Daniel Moreno is a professional photographer and creative entrepreneur with years of hands-on experience using photography as a practical, everyday skill. As the owner of That Real Estate Photographer, Daniel works daily with cameras, light, and composition to create clear, effective images using simple, repeatable techniques.
Daniel designed Everyday Photography from both professional and personal experience. In addition to his work as a photographer, he is the parent of a daughter who participates in California’s Self-Determination Program. Through that journey, he has gained a deep understanding of how important accessible, confidence-building programs are for individuals with developmental, intellectual and or physical disabilities and their families.
Rather than focusing on technical perfection, Daniel’s approach emphasizes patience, encouragement, and real-world success. Lessons are designed to be achievable using a cell phone, tablet or basic camera, with clear steps, repetition, and hands-on practice. The goal is to help participants feel capable, proud of their work, and comfortable expressing themselves through photography.
Daniel brings a calm, supportive presence to each session and is committed to creating a learning environment where participants feel safe to try, explore, and succeed at their own pace.
A smartphone with a built-in camera is perfect for this course. Modern phones take clear, high-quality photos and are easy to hold and use. You can tap the screen to focus and zoom slightly if needed. No extra equipment is required.
Tip: Make sure your phone has enough space to save photos and is charged.
A tablet with a camera works well too. Tablets have larger screens, which can make framing and viewing your photos easier. Like phones, you can tap to focus and zoom slightly.
A small, simple digital camera is great for this course. These cameras are designed for everyday photography and do not require technical knowledge. Most point-and-shoot cameras have an automatic mode that adjusts the light and focus for you.
Tip: Make sure the camera is charged and has an SD card if needed for saving your photos.
A DSLR or mirrorless camera works well if you already have one, but it is not required. These cameras give more control over focus and settings, but we will mostly use the automatic features to make it easy and fun.
Tip: If you use a DSLR, make sure it has a charged battery and a memory card.
We offer two levels of classes for both beginner and advanced students
Everyday Photography is a beginner-friendly, hands-on class designed for individuals in the Self-Determination Program. Participants learn to take clear and meaningful photos using a cell phone or simple camera. Each 45-minute session follows a customized pace based on individual progress—holding the camera, using light, framing subjects, and capturing everyday moments. Classes are supportive, fun, and achievable, helping participants build confidence, self-expression, and pride in their work.
Everyday Photography Advanced is a hands-on class for participants in the Self-Determination Program who want to take their skills further. Using a DSLR or mirrorless camera, participants learn technical photography concepts including the exposure triangle, depth of field, and on- and off-camera flash. Classes are structured to build confidence, creative expression, and career-oriented skills.
